Gay marriages defeat the government’s purpose of benefiting marriages (Moore et al 6). Governments depend on stable families for the social health of the society they govern. One of the reasons they bestow benefits to marriages is that by their pure nature, marriages are recognized as the key institutions responsible for creating and raising society. A faltering family falters society. Opposite sex marriages raise children in a natural and morally acceptable atmosphere, providing both parents’ affection (Moore et al 14). Gay marriages lack such conditions.
